Gas Driller Loses Bid To Block W.Va. Fracking Ban

Law360, New York (June 27, 2011, 4:28 PM EDT) -- A West Virginia judge on Friday denied Northeast Natural Energy LLC’s bid to temporarily block the city of Morgantown, W. Va., from enforcing an ordinance banning hydraulic fracturing in shale rock within one mile of its borders.

Judge Russell Clawges rejected Northeast Natural’s motion for a temporary restraining order that would have put a hold on the ordinance, enacted last week by the Morgantown city council.
