Wife Settles In Suit Over $156M Oil, Gas Investment Plot

Law360, New York (June 28, 2011, 3:22 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday settled its claims against Kathy Lucas, whose husband was among multiple defendants targeted in Kansas for an alleged $156 million oil and gas securities offering fraud that victimized more than 1,300 investors.

Edward J. Nazar, the receiver appointed to recover funds from the fraud, had claimed that Lucas' husband, Dale, fraudulently transferred more than $2.1 million from the fraud to his wife's name. Citing Kathy Lucas' financial condition, Nazar agreed to drop all claims against her in return...
