Toyota Yanks 100K SUVs Over Transistor Risk

Law360, New York (June 29, 2011, 7:20 PM EDT) -- Toyota Motor Corp. on Wednesday voluntarily recalled 100,000 hybrid SUVs over risks that transistors in their power modules could fail and cause the cars to suddenly lose power or stop.

The recall affects model years 2006-2007 Highlander Hybrids and Lexus RX 400h vehicles worldwide, Toyota spokesman Brian Lyons said. More than 80,000 of the affected SUVs were sold in the U.S., with most of the remainder sold in Japan, Canada and Europe, according to Lyons.
