Feds Rip Ex-Cargo Exec's Dismissal Bid

Law360, New York (July 1, 2011, 5:32 PM EDT) -- Federal prosecutors on Friday attacked a bid by a former cargo company executive, accused of conspiring to hike prices on air freight shipments between the U.S. and Latin America after hurricanes Rita and Katrina, to have his Florida case dismissed.

Juan Luis Soto’s motion to dismiss, lodged June 17 before U.S. District Judge Ursula Ungaro, argues that the government has no evidence that his alleged acts damaged, or were intended to damage, the U.S. economy, as required by the Foreign Trade Antitrust Improvements Act of 1982....
