Enviros Sue To Stop Bridge Into NC Wildlife Refuge

Law360, New York (July 5, 2011, 6:11 PM EDT) -- Two environmental groups sued the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration on Friday to stop construction of a bridge in North Carolina's Outer Banks, saying the government failed to consider alternatives that would protect a wildlife refuge.

The National Wildlife Refuge Association and Defenders of Wildlife claim in their lawsuit that the agencies violated the National Environmental Policy Act and the Department of Transportation Act by deciding to build a replacement bridge between two islands that will land in the wildlife refuge,...
