Russia Vows to Fight For Vodka Trademarks

Law360 (November 5, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister Aleksei Gordeyev told news agency Interfax that the country is "single-mindedly" determined to recover its rights to the trademarks of popular Russian vodkas abroad.

Domestically, the trademarks to popular Russian vodkas such as Stolichnaya, Moskovskaya and Russkaya belong to the state. Last July the government gave FKP Soyuzplodimport the rights to use and manage 17 trademarks of traditional Russian vodkas and bitter macerated liqueurs, including Stolichnaya, Moskovskaya, Russkaya, Okhotnichya, Pertsovka and Zubrovka.
