Dime Bancorp Investors Seek Committee In WMI Ch. 11

Law360, New York (July 6, 2011, 8:17 PM EDT) -- Investors in Dime Bancorp Inc. asked a Delaware bankruptcy judge Wednesday to appoint an official committee to represent their interests as they seek to recover $337 million in Washington Mutual Inc.'s Chapter 11 proceedings.

WMI, which bought Dime Bancorp in 2002, has been in Chapter 11 protection since Sept. 26, 2008, the day after its Washington Mutual Bank NA arm was seized by the U.S. Office of Thrift Supervision. A Delaware bankruptcy judge ordered WMI to set aside the $337 million in case the Dime shareholders...
