Pa. Agrees To More Stringent Drilling Permit Process

Law360, New York (July 7, 2011, 5:12 PM EDT) -- Pennsylvania environmental regulators agreed to spend more time reviewing permit applications for natural gas drilling projects in the Marcellus Shale that could potentially impact high-quality waterways as part of a settlement reached Wednesday with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

The agreement resolves an appeal that CBF filed with the state Environmental Hearing Board contesting drilling permits that the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection issued to Ultra Resources Inc. and Fortuna Energy Inc.
