Small Tech Co. Wins Case Over Text Message Patent

Law360, New York (May 29, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A jury has awarded $12 million to a small technology company that sued for the theft of its groundbreaking phone text messaging system.

In a verdict handed down Friday, the Virginia jury found Sybase 365, formerly known as Mobile 365, had infringed multiple claims of a patent owned by Maryland-based Telecommunication Systems Inc. covering the pioneering technology.
