DC Circuit Disbars DOJ Atty Linked To Abramoff

Law360, New York (July 7, 2011, 9:56 PM EDT) -- The D.C. Circuit on Thursday disbarred a former U.S. Department of Justice attorney ensnared in the corruption scandal surrounding former Republican superlobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Robert Coughlin II pled guilty in April 2008 to accepting thousands of dollars in exchange for helping Abramoff's clients, as well as clients of Kevin Ring, an Abramoff aide later found guilty of bribing public officials, with meals, trips and other gifts.

The effective date of Coughlin's disbarment would be June 2008, when he was first placed under interim suspension, the appeals...
