EU Court Cuts €90M From Eni Rubber Cartel Fine

Law360, New York (July 13, 2011, 1:36 PM EDT) -- A European Union court on Wednesday slashed a synthetic rubber cartel fine against Eni SpA from €272.25 million ($385 million) to €181.50 million, but upheld €225 million in related penalties against Shell Petroleum NV and Dow Chemical Co.

The EU General Court also overturned two smaller fines totaling just over €21 million that the European Commission had imposed in late 2006 against Poland's Trade-Stomil Sp Zoo and Czech companies' Kaucuk AS and Unipetrol AS for allegedly fixing the prices of synthetic rubbers used in consumer goods...
