Former FTC Clerk Gets 18 Months For Theft

Law360, New York (July 13, 2011, 9:21 PM EDT) -- A former Federal Trade Commission supply clerk was sentenced Wednesday in Washington federal court to 18 months in prison for stealing more than $217,000 worth of computers, DVD players and TVs from the agency and selling them out of his home.

Harold Hughes pled guilty in April to charges that he used FTC money to make unauthorized purchases of electronics, keeping some for himself and reselling the rest at discounted prices, according to the plea agreement. The charges carried a maximum prison sentence of 10 years...
