ITC To Probe Kaneka’s Supplement Patent Claims

Law360, San Diego (July 14, 2011, 8:27 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission on Thursday launched an investigation into whether China's Zhejiang Medicine Co. Ltd., New York-based Maypro Industries Inc. and others import health supplements and cosmetics that infringe a patent for Kaneka Corp.’s Q10 dietary supplement.

The agency decided to institute a Section 337 review based on Kaneka’s June 17 complaint, which mirrors a suit the Japan-based company has pending against all of the same companies over the same patent in Texas federal court.
