CFTC Chair Draws Fire From Lawmakers Over Swap Regs

Law360, New York (July 21, 2011, 5:37 PM EDT) -- Lawmakers on Thursday cautioned the chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission against implementing derivatives regulations that they say treat businesses and cooperatives in the agriculture and energy sectors as if they were Wall Street players.

The House Committee on Agriculture heard testimony from the CFTC and stakeholders in the private sector about the agency’s effort to regulate swaps under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which was entered into law in 2010
