Calif. Trial Court To Lay Off 200, Close 25 Rooms

Law360, New York (July 18, 2011, 4:53 PM EDT) -- The San Francisco County Superior Court's presiding judge announced Monday that nearly half the court's staff will be laid off and 25 courtrooms will be shuttered in order to close a $13.75 million deficit created when California lawmakers slashed funding from the state budget.

Judge Katherine Feinstein said at a press conference at the Civic Center Courthouse that the reduction of courtrooms and 200 of 483 employees was the result of a $350 million funding cut in this year's budget from lawmakers in Sacramento, Calif....
