PGE Settles Enviro Groups' Suit Over CAA Violations

Law360, New York (July 20, 2011, 2:23 PM EDT) -- Portland General Electric Co. on Tuesday settled a suit brought by environmental groups over its coal-fired electricity plant in Boardman, Ore., agreeing to contribute $2.5 million to local environmental projects and set limits on the plant's sulfur dioxide emissions.

The consent decree sets a shutdown date of 2020 for the coal plant, the only coal-burning plant in the state, and sulfur emissions goals that would decrease every year from 2015 to 2020. PGE also agreed to pay $1 million in attorneys' fees, expert fees and costs...
