WTO To Rule On Japan's Energy Dispute With Canada

Law360, San Diego (July 20, 2011, 6:26 PM EDT) -- The World Trade Organization on Wednesday reportedly set up a panel to consider Japan’s complaint alleging that Canada’s provincial clean energy program discriminates against Japanese exporters of wind and solar technology.

The WTO panel is expected to issue a ruling in the dispute within the next six months, according to an Agence France-Presse news report.

Japanese trade officials asked for a dispute settlement panel on June 1, after failing to reach an agreement with Canada over its energy program.
