Sen. Threatens To Hold Up FDA User Fee Renewal

Law360, New York (July 28, 2011, 7:44 PM EDT) -- Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., announced Thursday that he would put the brakes on reauthorizing a U.S. Food and Drug Administration user fee program unless changes were made to speed up the approval process of drugs and medical devices.

During the first U.S. Sentate health committee meeting on renewing the program, the lawmaker threatened to create a “slow and laborious process” if he found changes to the program unsatisfactory.
