HTC Phones Don’t Infringe FlashPoint Patents: ITC Judge

Law360, San Diego (July 28, 2011, 9:07 PM EDT) -- A U.S. International Trade Commission judge held Wednesday that smartphones made by Taiwan-based HTC Corp. did not violate FlashPoint Technology Inc.’s digital image manipulation patents.

Chief Administrative Law Judge Paul Luckern issued a final initial determination that FlashPoint was unable to demonstrate that HTC’s devices infringed its patents, holding that the evidence showed no violation of Section 337 of the Tariff Act. The two patents-in-suit covered technology that allowed users to manipulate digital images on the device that took them, according to the complaint.
