Diebold, Others Beat E-Voting Machine Patent Claims

Law360, New York (July 29, 2011, 3:10 PM EDT) -- A Florida federal judge on Thursday nixed Voter Verified Inc.'s claims that electronic voting systems made by Election Systems & Software Inc., Diebold Inc. and Premier Election Solutions Inc. infringe its patent for a computer-based balloting machine.

U.S. District Judge Patricia C. Fawsett granted Diebold and Premier's summary judgment motion after concluding that their Accuvote-TSX system does not violate any of the independent claims of the asserted patent because it does not compare the votes recorded electronically in its system with the paper ballot it prints...
