IBM Hit With Antitrust Suit Over Mainframe Resales

Law360, New York (August 3, 2011, 6:34 PM EDT) -- Mainframe computer reseller QSGI Inc. hit IBM Corp. with a multimillion-dollar suit Wednesday in Florida claiming the technology giant forced it out of the mainframe market and into bankruptcy.

Just months after emerging from Chapter 11 protection, QSGI targeted IBM and its IBM Global Financing unit under two Florida antitrust statutes. The complaint alleges that the companies in 2007 suddenly refused to give outsider resellers like QSGI the parts and code necessary to modify the used multimillion-dollar mainframes for new purchasers.
