Hospital Group Blasts HHS' Call For Access Reports

Law360, New York (August 3, 2011, 8:52 PM EDT) -- The American Hospital Association urged the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Monday to withdraw a proposal that would allow patients to see who has accessed their health records, saying it goes too far in the name of privacy.

The proposal does not properly account for the “substantial burdens” it would place on hospitals and other health care organizations, AHA Executive Vice President Rick Pollack said in a letter to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.
