Catholic Order Settles Abuse Cases For $25M

Law360, Wilmington (August 4, 2011, 6:10 PM EDT) -- A Catholic religious order settled a host of sexual abuse suits in Delaware state court Thursday for nearly $25 million, with the bulk of the money heading to a fund for victims set up in the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington Inc.'s bankruptcy.

The deal resolves 39 cases against the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales and its Salesianum High School in Wilmington, Del., most of which were filed by the same 154 alleged victims that sued the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington into bankruptcy in 2009, according...
