Wiseman Oil Seeks Coverage From TIG In CERCLA Suit

Law360, New York (August 5, 2011, 7:11 PM EDT) -- Wiseman Oil Co. Inc. sued TIG Insurance Co. in Pennsylvania on Thursday, seeking indemnity for an environmental liability suit in which Wiseman was accused of contributing to pollution at a site where it operated an oil refinery from 1978 to 1982.

Remediation of the former facility, now known as the Breslube-Penn Superfund site, is expected to cost $26 million, according to Wiseman's complaint. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which paid $1.6 million to remove 6,000 tons of contaminated soil and sludge from the site in 1994,...
