CIT Says Importer Must Pay Bonds On Canadian Lumber

Law360, New York (August 5, 2011, 8:19 PM EDT) -- A U.S. Court of International Trade judge on Friday ordered wood importer Canex International Lumber Sales Ltd. to pay $450,000 to the U.S. government for misclassifying imports, despite the company's pending appeal of a related dispute in the Federal Circuit.

The ruling granted the government's motion for summary judgment in its suit against Canex. The lumber exporter has itself filed a separate suit against the U.S. which is currently awaiting appeal.
