Cargill Sues Beef Packing Co. Over E-Coli Outbreak

Law360, New York (August 5, 2011, 7:47 PM EDT) -- Cargill Meat Solutions Corp. and its insurer sued an Omaha, Neb., beef packing company Friday, claiming it breached a contract by selling Cargill meat tainted with E. coli that forced a 2007 recall and paralyzed at least one consumer.

In the complaint against Greater Omaha Packing Co. Inc., Cargill and American Home Assurance Co. are seeking to recoup the costs of defending suits, as well as lost revenues from damage to its reputation after the outbreak.
