Top 100 Law Firms Tap Local Hires, Partners: Survey

Law360, New York (August 9, 2011, 5:37 PM EDT) -- The nation's top law firms recruit most future partners from nearby law schools, a survey of the largest 100 firms found Friday, revealing that U.S. News & World Report rankings carry less weight than students might believe.

National firms' hiring is “astonishingly local,” according to Loyola Law School Professor Theodore P. Seto's survey of where partners at NLJ 100 law firms graduated from law school, which will be published in the Journal of Legal Education.
