Coin Collectors Guild’s Suit Over Seized Coins Tossed

Law360, San Diego (August 9, 2011, 7:46 PM EDT) -- A Maryland federal court on Monday dismissed the Ancient Coin Collectors Guild’s suit against U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Department of State over the seizure of 23 ancient Cypriot and Chinese coins imported to the U.S. from London.

U.S. District Judge Catherine Blake granted the government agencies’ bid to dismiss the action for procedural reasons, but noted that import restrictions may be in order in instances where it remains unclear where the coins were discovered, such as the coins in the current case....
