ADT Workers Unfairly Fired Over FLSA Docs: Judge

Law360, New York (August 10, 2011, 7:17 PM EDT) -- A Maryland federal judge ruled Monday that documents supporting wage complaints are protected under the Fair Labor Standards Act's anti-retaliation provision and that ADT Security Services Inc. had therefore unlawfully fired employees for turning confidential documents over to regulators.

U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow granted summary judgment on liability to former ADT employees Sharon Randolph and Tami Thompson on their claim that the alarm company violated the FLSA by firing them for sharing confidential materials with a state labor agency in a wage-and-hour investigation....
