Syngenta, DuPont Settle Corn Seed Patent Suit, But Trial Proceeds Against Other Defendants

Law360, New York (November 30, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- Swiss agricultural biotech company Syngenta and U.S. rival DuPont have settled their litigation over patents for pest-resistant corn, on the eve of the opening of the trial in federal court in Delaware.

The agreement settles claims Syngenta Seeds, Inc. had brought against DuPont subsidiary Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. in a 2002 patent infringement lawsuit involving Pioneer, Monsanto, Dow AgroSciences and Dow unit Mycogen.
