Pentair Sues Solar Co. Over 'Intelli' Mark

Law360, New York (August 12, 2011, 6:04 PM EDT) -- A Pentair Inc. unit sued a solar products maker in Ohio on Friday, accusing it of undermining its brand of pool-related products and gaining unfair competitive advantage by selling IntelliMaxx-brand solar equipment for use in swimming pools and spas.

Water technology company Pentair Water Pool & Spa Inc. accuses Silicon Solar Inc. of copying its distinctive and trademarked “Intelli-” prefix, which Pentair uses for a variety of products used in spas, hot tubs, ponds, water parks, pools and landscaping environments.
