Cargill Pays $2.2B For Animal Nutrition Co. Provimi

Law360, New York (August 15, 2011, 2:39 PM EDT) -- International agricultural conglomerate Cargill Inc. on Monday announced it had agreed to purchase animal nutrition company Provimi from private equity fund Permira for approximately $2.16 billion.

Cargill said Permira, Provimi's current owner, would soon begin negotiations with relevant labor unions and national regulators for the deal to move forward.

Minneapolis-based Cargill said adding Provimi's global expertise in the animal nutrition sector would complement its existing capabilities in the market. Provimi, a Dutch company, operates in 26 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America, employing approximately...
