ABA Sanctions Villanova Over Inflated LSATs, GPAs

Law360, New York (August 16, 2011, 5:40 PM EDT) -- The American Bar Association said Monday it had sanctioned Villanova University School of Law for inflating reported LSAT scores and GPAs of several entering classes.

The ABA described the false reporting, which occurred at the direction of a previous dean from at least 2002 to 2009, as “reprehensible and damaging to prospective law school applicants, law students and the legal profession.”

Villanova reported the grade inflation after the school discovered it through an internal investigation. It will have to hire an independent compliance monitor to review...
