Prada, Ecco Latest To Challenge Gender-Based Duties

Law360, New York (August 17, 2011, 2:01 PM EDT) -- Prada SA and Ecco USA Inc. on Wednesday became the latest clothing importers to challenge gender-based tariffs, filing lawsuits in the U.S. Court of International Trade that say such duties are unconstitutional.

In nearly identical suits, the apparel and footwear companies say that under various provisions of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, their imported merchandise has been assigned a duty rate on products for one gender or age group that is higher than the same product intended for the other gender or age...
