FICO Scores Low In Credit Rating Trademark Feud

Law360, New York (August 17, 2011, 8:02 PM EDT) -- The Eighth Circuit on Wednesday upheld a series of rulings in long-running antitrust and false advertising litigation brought by Fair Isaac Corp. against three rival credit reporting agencies, finding no reason to revive the nearly 5-year-old fight over Fair Isaac's trademarked FICO credit scoring system.

Fair Isaac first launched the suit in October 2006, claiming the 501-990 credit scoring range used by VantageScore Solutions LLC — a joint venture of the nation’s three largest credit reporting agencies, Experian Information Solutions Inc., TransUnion LLC and Equifax Inc....
