Purdue University Warns 7,000 Of Data Breach

Law360, New York (August 17, 2011, 4:59 PM EDT) -- Purdue University announced Tuesday that more than 7,000 ex-mathematics students, faculty and others affiliated with the college may have had their Social Security numbers hacked.

Purdue said it was sending letters to former students who took mathematics courses at the university, as well as a small number of professors, family members and contractors, warning that an unauthorized user broke into a school server.
