NHTSA Won't Probe Toyota Air Bag Failures

Law360, New York (August 17, 2011, 10:01 PM EDT) -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Wednesday declined to open an investigation into complaints of air bag system failures in Toyota Motor Corp.'s 2008 Corolla, finding that there was no safety defect in the model.

The agency denied a Williamsburg, Va., couple's petition for a probe into air bag system failures that they experienced when they crashed their 2008 Corolla. They walked away from the accident uninjured.
