DOI Review Supports Oil Drilling In Chukchi Sea

Law360, New York (August 18, 2011, 9:42 PM EDT) -- A U.S. offshore drilling regulator on Thursday upheld the government's 2008 decision to lease Alaska's Chukchi Sea for oil and gas exploration in a final review of the possible environmental effects of the controversial lease auction.

The Department of the Interior's Bureau of Ocean Energy, Management, Regulation and Enforcement approved the government's decision in its new analysis, conducted as a supplement to the original review for Lease Sale 193, which took place in February 2008.
