EU May Probe France's Electricity Sector

Law360, New York (June 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission reportedly confirmed Tuesday that it is contemplating an investigation into whether the French power industry benefited from artificially low electricity prices.

“The Commission is considering opening a state-aid case against France on preferential electricity tariffs,” said EC spokesman Jonathan Todd, according to Dow Jones.

The Financial Times further reported that an announcement of an official investigation could come as early as Wednesday.
