Bribery Case Against NM Judge Heading To Trial

Law360, New York (August 22, 2011, 1:41 PM EDT) -- New Mexico's bribery case against state Judge Michael Murphy will reportedly go to trial following a magistrate judge's ruling Saturday that there was probable cause to believe the judge paid a colleague for a tie-breaking vote in a judge's election.

According to the Las Cruces Sun-News, Magistrate Judge Conrad Perea made the decision following four hours of cross-examination of Judge Lisa Shultz, a key witness in the case, in an open preliminary hearing that the defense had requested in place of a closed grand jury hearing....
