Synopsys Acquires Nassda For $192M In Deal Driven By Patent, Trade-Secret Litigation

Law360, New York (December 2, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- Chip software maker Synopsys Inc. has agreed to buy rival Nassda Corp. for about $192 million in a deal driven by the acrimonious patent and trade-secrets litigation between the two companies.

In what amounts to a combined acquisition and settlement agreement, Synopsys said it has signed agreements to acquire Nassda in an all-cash transaction at $7 per share and to settle all outstanding litigation by Synopsys against Nassda.
