Osram Sues LG, Samsung In S. Korea Over LED Patents

Law360, New York (August 22, 2011, 9:38 PM EDT) -- Siemens AG lighting unit Osram said Monday that it had sued units of LG Group and Samsung Group for allegedly infringing patents for light-emitting diode lights, escalating an ongoing intellectual property fight between the rivals.

Osram filed suit against LG Innotek Co. Ltd. in the Korea Trade Commission and a suit against LG and Samsung LED Co. Ltd. in Seoul Central District Court, claiming that the two had infringed patents for LEDs, which are used in applications like lighting, projectors, cellphone screens and televisions.
