3M Stakes New Forum In BacLite Blackmail Suit

Law360, New York (August 29, 2011, 3:37 PM EDT) -- Hoping to bypass a forum dispute in New York state court, 3M Co. on Wednesday sued Porton Capital Inc.'s CEO and counsel in the District of Columbia, again alleging they tried to intimidate 3M into paying more than $30 million over a derailed medical device.

In the present complaint and the previous New York suit, 3M claims Porton Capital CEO Harvey Boulter threatened the company over future British government contracts and the knighthood of 3M CEO George Buckley in attempting to force a settlement in U.K....
