Dish Settles Vt. AG's Suit Over Misleading Letter

Law360, New York (August 26, 2011, 3:57 PM EDT) -- Vermont's attorney general announced Friday that the state had reached a settlement with Dish Network LLC over the company's alleged use of strong, urgent language in mailings in order to dupe customers into replacing their service equipment.

Dish Network agreed to pay Vermont $125,000 and admitted that while the customers who received the letters needed to upgrade their equipment at some point, none of them needed to do so immediately, as the letter exhorted, according to the agreement entered in Vermont state court Tuesday.
