Senate Mulls RPS Amendment To Energy Bill

Law360, New York (June 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Though a requirement that utilities supply a specific percentage of electricity from renewable energy sources is already law in 22 states, a newly introduced bill in Congress would turn the “renewable portfolio standard” into federal legislation.

Senators Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) and Harry Reid (D-NV) on Wednesday introduced a renewable portfolio standard amendment during a floor debate on their previously introduced energy policy bill.
