Del Monte Targets Oregon In 2nd Cantaloupe Import Suit

Law360, New York (August 30, 2011, 5:47 PM EDT) -- Del Monte Fresh Produce NA Inc. said Monday it intended to sue the Oregon Health Authority and one of its officials, as the global produce giant continues to fight allegations that it imported salmonella-tainted cantaloupes from Guatemala.

In a statement, Del Monte Vice President Dennis Christou said the agency's public health division and senior epidemiologist William Keene "made misleading allegations regarding Del Monte Fresh’s imported cantaloupes as the source of a salmonella outbreak earlier this year."
