Judge Throws Out Pinpoint's Patent Lawsuit Vs. Amazon.com

Law360, New York (December 7, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has thrown out Pinpoint’s patent lawsuit against Amazon.com, Borders Group and other online retailers, but said the company could refile the lawsuit if it ensures that the patents are properly assigned.

After an evidentiary hearing on the eve of trial, Judge Richard Posner of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago determined that Pinpoint was not the owner of the asserted patents at the time the complaint was filed in July 2003.
