FDA Urged To Ban J&J, Allergan Breast Implants

Law360, New York (August 31, 2011, 6:21 PM EDT) -- Consumer and women's health advocates asked federal regulators on Tuesday to ban silicone gel-filled breast implants manufactured by both Johnson & Johnson unit Mentor Worldwide LLC and Allergan Inc. until the companies can provide more long-term safety data on the implants.

Groups including the National Women's Health Network, the National Organization for Women and the National Physicians Alliance voiced their concerns at a two-day advisory panel meeting in Maryland run by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to evaluate follow-up safety studies for silicon implants already...
