Green Groups Reap Bulk Of EPA Legal Fees: Report

Law360, New York (September 1, 2011, 4:36 PM EDT) -- The majority of attorneys' fees awards paid by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have gone to national and local environmental groups, with almost one-third going to Earthjustice alone, according to a U.S. Government Accountability Office report released Wednesday.

The report studied the EPA's litigation costs over the past 16 years at the request of U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works members James Inhofe, R-Okla., and David Vitter, R-La.
