Merck Tops List In Pharma Class Actions

Law360, New York (June 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Bogged down by thousands of claims over its anti-inflammatory drug Vioxx, Merck & Co. Inc. was involved in more product liability lawsuits last year than any other health care company, our survey of the 50 largest health care companies shows.

At the end of 2006, Merck had confirmed that it was facing more than 27,000 lawsuits in state and federal courts over Vioxx, which included about 45,900 plaintiff groups alleging injury as result of using the painkiller.
